Commanding Officer
Cmdr. Donald “Slomo” Emerson, a native of Great Bend, Pennsylvania, graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He reported to flight school and earned his wings in December 2004.
Emerson assumed command of Naval Magazine Indian Island and Naval Munitions Command Pacific CONUS West Division Unit Indian Island on June 28, 2019.
Emerson has more than 2,400 flight hours in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. His personal awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, an Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
Executive Officer
Lt. Cmdr. Sam “Grinner” Clement, a native of Arnold, Maryland, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in History. He reported to flight school following graduation and earned his wings of gold in April 2009.
Clement became Naval Magazine Indian Island’s Executive Officer in December 2019.
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
