Installation personnel and residents living in the communities surrounding Indian Island could notice increased activity near the Main Gate on that day. Training activities will include the use of blank ammunition, loud sirens and bright blue flashing lights.

INDIAN ISLAND TO PARTICIPATE IN NATION-WIDE EARTHQUAKE DRILL


PORT HADLOCK, Wash., - Naval Magazine Indian Island is scheduled to participate in an annual nation-wide earthquake response drill known as “The Great Shakeout,” on Thursday, October 17, 2019.


During the drill, Indian Island will utilize the base’s Giant Voice outdoor speaker system at 10:17 a.m. to announce the earthquake practice scenario to installation employees with the words “Exercise, Exercise, Exercise,” preceding the message.


This drill should have a minimal additional impact to the surrounding community.
