An earthen roadway with
sediment-clogged culverts obstructed the waterway along the southeastern border
of Naval Magazine Indian Island for more than 75 years, however water now
freely flows into Kilisut Harbor thanks to a nearly completed effort to restore
the historic tidal channel.

INDIAN ISLAND TO PARTICIPATE IN NATION-WIDE EARTHQUAKE DRILL
PORT HADLOCK, Wash., - Naval Magazine Indian Island is scheduled to participate in an annual nation-wide earthquake response drill known as “The Great Shakeout,” on Thursday, October 17, 2019.
During the drill, Indian Island will utilize the base’s Giant Voice outdoor speaker system at 10:17 a.m. to announce the earthquake practice scenario to installation employees with the words “Exercise, Exercise, Exercise,” preceding the message.
This drill should have a minimal additional impact to the surrounding community.
