FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PORT HADLOCK, Wash., - Naval Magazine Indian Island is scheduled to conduct a security training exercise from Tuesday, August 5 to Thursday, August 8, 2019.
The exercise will take place in the water on the west side of the island, near the Ammunition Pier’s port security barrier.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on those days, installation personnel and people in the communities surrounding Indian Island could notice the increased presence of harbor security boats on the water that will be conducting high-speed evasive maneuvers. This exercise will also involve the use of blank ammunition, loud sirens and bright lights.
A U.S. Coast Guard vessel will be enforcing a safety zone around the west side of the island during the exercise. All vessels are required to maintain a safe distance from the training area and from participating vessels.
The Navy routinely conducts these types of security exercises, which ensures readiness and verifies response procedures.
NMII thanks the community for their continued support and understanding.
