How to Submit a Hometown News Release
The Joint Hometown News Service is a Department of Defense program, which supports military members worldwide by communicating their personal stories and achievements with friends and family on their home front. This benefit is free to all service members and federal civilian employees.
By submitting a Hometown News Release form, you will be able to share your military accolades with friends and family back home through their local newspaper, radio, or TV station.
Occasions that merit a Hometown News Release:
- Awards and decorations
- Change of duty station/arrival for duty
- Earning a college degree
- Participation in a national news event
- Promotion to a higher rank
When submitting your online Hometown News Release form, make sure you type ‘Naval Base Kitsap’ as your post/base and select ‘Naval Base Kitsap Public Affairs Office’ in the “Unit” dropdown menu.

Attaching official photos or in-uniform snapshots in good taste are encouraged.
