Fitness and Aquatics

The goal of the Navy Fitness program is to create "Fitness for Life" for the entire Navy population, including active duty Sailors, family members and DoD civilians. Individual and group instruction is available from certified fitness professionals in cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, flexibility and nutrition.

Aquatics programming includes lap swimming, lessons and specialty programs, such as water aerobics.

Sports Program

The Sports program offers male and female team and individual sports competitions at the base level. Tournaments and leagues are offered on a year-round basis and include softball, flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, racquetball, running and swimming. A variety of skill development clinics are also offered.

Physical Readiness Program

The Physical Readiness program offers advance fitness training to thousands of military personnel each year. These trained individuals become Command Fitness Leaders (CFLs) who assist active duty personnel in preparing for their semi-annual physical fitness assessment.

Deployed Forces Support

Deployed Forces Support Coordinators (DFSCs) are located at major fleet concentration areas throughout the world and provide assistance to ships and forward deployed ground forces in programming, financial management, recreation administration, procurement and property management. DFSCs are civilian recreation and fitness professionals exclusively dedicated to supporting the MWR needs of the fleet and forward deployed ground forces.

Afloat fitness (Fit Bosses) and recreation specialists (Fun Bosses) work together in providing fitness and recreation programs for shipboard Sailors.

Youth Sports and Fitness

Youth sports programs encourage children to participate in youth sports events and teams, find positive uses of leisure time, and enhance personal fitness.
