Stormwater Pollution Prevention

Stormwater runoff occurs when precipitation from rain flows over the ground. Impervious surfaces like driveways, sidewalks, piers, flight lines, and streets prevent stormwater runoff from naturally soaking into the ground.

Because of the nature of stormwater system designs, our personal practices will have a significant effect on water quality in receiving surface water bodies. Whatever you drip, drop, pour, sweep or blow into storm drains or even just onto streets, piers and parking lots will most likely ultimately end up in the river.

Check out the “NAS Jacksonville Guide to Stormwater Pollution Prevention” link below to see how you can help in reducing stormwater pollution.
