Lt. Cmdr. Chan Singh entered the Naval Service December 1, 1997 and attended Recruit Training Command (RTC) in Great Lakes, Illinois. Following RTC, he attended Personnelman Class “A” school in Meridian, Mississippi from February to March 1998.
In April 1998, he reported to his first duty station, USS Carney (DDG 64) homeported in Mayport, Florida. There he served as the Personnel Division Leading Petty Officer, advancing to petty officer first class. He transferred to Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) Jacksonville in November 2002 and served as the Transient Personnel Section Leading Petty Officer. He was selected as the 2003 PSD Jacksonville Sailor of the Year and subsequently advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2004. His next sea tour was onboard the USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) homeported in Mayport, Florida, where he served as the ship’s secretary and administrative officer. Following, he reported to Customer Service Desk Damneck, Virginia, as the chief petty officer in charge. He was selected for commissioning under the Limited Duty Officer program in 2009.
Singh reported to his first commissioned officer tour in December 2009 at Strike Fighter Squadron 87 located in Oceana, Virginia, and served as the admin officer. From March 2013 to April 2015, he served as the N1 Department Head at Commander, Naval Special Warfare Group 4 located in Little Creek, Virginia. Following, he served as the Executive Officer, Staff Enlisted Personnel at Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He reported to USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in July 2018 and served as the Personnel Officer and Ship’s Secretary. He is currently serving as the Executive Officer for Transient Personnel Unit/Pre-Trial Confinement Facility Jacksonville, Florida.
Singh’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit and service awards.
