Branch Health Clinic Meridian
Branch Health Clinic, NAS Meridian, is part of the Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida, branch medical system and is fully accredited by The Joint Commission. The clinic offers a limited number of services, however, for its size, they are diverse. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 0700-1600. The clinic is closed on weekends and holidays.
Appointments for all clinics are made through the Central Appointments clerk at 1-877-879-1621. For TRICARE Prime enrollees, expect to be offered a same day appointment if you call prior to 1030. Calls between 1030 and 1530 will either be seen that day or forwarded for triage by a registered nurse at the clinic.
The TRICARE Service Center (TSC) for this area is located in Branch Health Clinic Meridian. Hours of operation are 0700-1600 Monday through Friday except federal holidays. Active duty personnel stationed in Meridian must complete a form to enroll in TRICARE Prime at the Meridian TSC and check in at clinic records. Prime enrollment for all other TRICARE eligible beneficiaries and general TRICARE information is available by visiting the Meridian TSC, calling 1-800-444-5445 or per web site www.humana-military.com.
The only service available after hours and on holidays is our emergency ambulance service at 911. We do not have an emergency room. All on-base medical emergencies will result in the patient's immediate transport to a local emergency room in Meridian. A medical emergency is defined as "a sudden medical condition endangering life, limb, or eye sight." For off-base and civilian ambulance services, call 911 from any telephone with off-base access. TRICARE Prime patients must get authorization to see anyone other than their Primary Care Manager.
Authorized persons should present their tan ID and TRICARE Prime cards. If you have a medical emergency that does not allow time to get pre-authorization, seek medical care immediately and get authorization from your Primary Care Manager within 24 to 48 hours.
Non-TRICARE Prime patients should present their tan ID card for direct billing to TRICARE; you may be asked to pay 15-100 percent prior to receiving care.
Active duty personnel who are directed to a local medical facility should present their green ID card as an insurance card. If you have a medical emergency that does not allow time to get pre-authorization, seek medical care immediately and get authorization from your Primary Care Manager within 24 to 48 hours.
Acute Care Clinic (ACC)
The ACC is not an emergency room. The primary responsibility of the ACC is the care and treatment of urgent medical needs regardless of beneficiary status. An urgent medical need refers to a medical condition that although it is not life threatening, it is serious enough that any delay in treatment could result in a medical emergency.
Most basic diagnostic laboratory tests and radiographic examinations ordered by military physicians can be performed in the Branch Health Clinic.
A medical record is maintained on each eligible member of the Military Health System and may not be altered, added to, or disposed of, except by government employees in the course of their duties. Outpatient records are the property of the federal government, and as such, will be maintained at the responsible military treatment facility assigned to the sponsor's unit.
Medical records maintained by Branch Health Clinic Meridian will not be kept in the possession of the patient. It is extremely important to observe this requirement as critical medical information may not otherwise make it to the medical record. This can severely impact the health care plan determined by the medical provider and delay medical treatment.
Personnel having an appointment at another medical facility are encouraged to obtain their record on the working day prior to the appointment. Records must be returned promptly after the appointment.
A Mental Health Clinic is available for all Tricare Prime enrollees. Active duty personnel are encouraged to bring both medical and service records to their first appointment. Services offered include individual and marital psychotherapy as well as full psychological evaluation. Consultation and training for command groups is provided on a space available basis. Appointments may be arranged by calling 601-679-2240.
PAP smears, birth control counseling and routine pelvic examinations are conducted on an appointment basis. Pregnancy testing is part of our routine laboratory service.
The Optometry Department is a specialty service primarily for active duty and TRICARE Prime patients; however, there is space available for other beneficiaries. The clinic provides full scope optometric care. Call Central Appointments at 1-877-879-1621 to schedule an appointment.

The pharmacy accepts written prescriptions for medications listed on our formulary. Most non-controlled, chronic medications may be dispensed for up to a 90-day supply with three refills. Some exceptions do apply. Limitations are placed on the dispensing of controlled and narcotic medications.
All refills are processed by the pharmacy at Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida. Refills are processed in five working days and shipped via Federal Express to Branch Health Clinic Meridian. Refills are held up to 14 days before being returned to stock.
Refills may be requested by using one of the following two methods: Calling toll-free 1-888-513-4164 to connect to the automated refill system at Naval Hospital Pensacola or by contacting Branch Health Clinic Meridian pharmacy at (601) 679-2243 so that we may submit your refills online for you.
Pharmacy hours of operation are 0700 to 1600 Monday through Friday, closed each day from 1200 to 1300 for lunch. All written prescriptions submitted after 1130 on Friday will be ready for pickup the following Monday. Pharmacy wait times are extremely sensitive and are determined by the number of prescriptions presented from both civilian and military providers.
Appointments may be made by contacting Central Appointments at 1-877-879-1621. A parent or legal guardian must accompany children under the age of 16. Children without an appointment should not be brought to the Branch Health Clinic. These children may be placed with the appropriate child care facility while the parent is at the clinic. The Family Service Center has a list of "drop in" day care providers on base.
