Commander John Godbehere is a native of Cairo, GA and attended the University of Georgia, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He was designated a Naval Aviator in 2005.
Commander Godbehere completed operational assignments with the “Proud Warriors” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light (HSL) 42, including deployments in USS Gettysburg (CG-64) and USS Nitze (DDG-94) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; the “Grandmasters” of Helicopter Maritime Strike (HSM) 46 deploying in the USS Dunham (DDG-109), supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, based in NS Mayport, FL. He also served as Airboss in USS Ponce (AFSB-I 15) based in NSA Bahrain.
His shore tours include: Instructor duty in HSL and HSM 40 and a tour as Battle Watch Captain, ESG-5, U.S Navy FIFTH Fleet, and in-residence education at the Air Force Air Command and Staff College, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Military Operations Arts and Science. He most recently served as the Safety Department Head at TRAWING FIVE, NAS Whiting Field.
