NEW EVENT: United Way is hosting the 14th Annual Day of Caring on Friday 14 Sep 07.

It’s time to begin planning for your part in Northwest Florida’s largest one-day volunteer event. On behalf of our non-profit agencies and Escambia County Schools, you the military and civilian volunteers are welcomed and invited to participate. The more willing participants the better!!! This incredible event celebrates the spirit of caring and volunteerism that is so vital to our community.

On Sep 14, over 1000 volunteers will spread throughout Escambia County to complete various community projects. Some of the projects include, repairing playground equipment at local day care centers, reading to children in local elementary schools stock shelves at an area food bank, clean yards for the elderly, and much more. Please start organizing your team today. Your dead line is 9 AUG 07. There is no limit to the number of volunteers who may participate, however Day of Caring generally divides volunteer teams into groups of 4-12 members per project. A registration form must be filled out. Your Community Outreach Office can be reached at 452-3100 ext 1241.

NEW EVENT: United Way is sponsoring the 2007 Cram the Van for the school supplies for those in need for the upcoming school term. We ask that you take time out of your busy schedule and help the cause by volunteering to motivate the shoppers at your local Wal-mart to make donations of school supplies Aug 15-27.
