A1: After working hours, the Duty Chaplain is available by calling the Command Duty Officer (CDO) at (850) 623-7921. They will page the Duty Chaplain and have someone contact you.

Q3: What if there is no Chaplain from my faith group on staff?
A3: At NAS Whiting Field, we take seriously the assignment to “provide for our own, facilitate for others, and care for all.” Our office has information on a number of civilian faith groups and will gladly assist you in either obtaining information or making contact with a representative of your faith. Simply call our the Chaplain's Office at (850) 665-6113.
Q4: What are the procedures for making an appointment to speak with a Chaplain?
A4: If you desire to make an appointment to speak with a Chaplain, please call our office at (850) 665-6113. Tell the Chaplain Assistant or Religious Programs Specialist (RP) that you wish to make an appointment. Be sure to let them know if you desire a particular Chaplain, faith group, or have any special needs.
Q5: Who may use a Military Chapel for a Wedding?
A5: All active duty and retired personnel, reservists (while on active duty) and dependent children (with valid ID card) of active duty and/or retired military personnel are eligible to use the Chapel. Only one of the participants getting married is required to have an ID card.

Q7: How do I contact a Navy Chaplain to conduct funeral services for a Navy veteran or retiree?
A7: Ask your local funeral director to assist you. Most funeral directors will have the contact numbers for nearby military installations or Veterans Administration office that can offer support in arranging military burial honors, including the services of a Chaplain, to those eligible veterans and retirees. Q8: I am Roman Catholic and was baptized in a Navy Chapel. How do I obtain a copy of my baptismal certificate?
A8: To obtain a copy of a Baptismal certificate contact: The Archdiocese for the Military Services, ATTN: Sacramental Records Dept, P.O. Box 4469, Washington, DC 20017-0469. Phone number (202) 719-3600; FAX (202) 269-1002. Turn-around times for requests are currently 2-4 weeks.
Q9: Are any of the chapels open for prayer and meditation?
A9: NAS Whiting Field Chapel is open for prayer; however, our outer doors are often times locked. The Chapel has a prayer space for all faiths. To access the Chapel please come in and talk to the friendly chaplain staff or call our office at (850) 665-6113 for specific information or access.
Q10: Are there any religious resources available for study?
A10: Our Chapel Library is open for use during working hours. Feel free to come in and use any materials we can provide. We also have some free resources such as devotionals, self-help materials and holy books.
