The Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Wyoming (SSBN 742) approaches Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. Wyoming is the 17th submarine in the Ohio-class and the fourth U.S. Naval ship to be named after the 44th state of the Union.

The ballistic missile submarine USS Maryland (SSBN 738) (Gold) transits the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway as it departs Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay for a patrol mission. Inset,  a Trident II D-5 intercontinental ballistic missile lifts off from the water after being launched from a submerged nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine.
