Command Master Chief Watts was born and raised in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in May 2000, and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Master Chief Watts attended Storekeeper “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi and then completed Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut.
Upon completion of his training, he reported to his first command USS GREENEVILLE (SSN 772) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where he served as a junior storekeeper. Master Chief Watts’ history of assignments includes Naval Submarine Support Command, Pearl Harbor; USS LOUISVILLE (SSN 724); USS MINNESOTA (SSN 783) and Defense Logistics Agency Maritime, Pearl Harbor. He served as the Chief of the Boat while on board his most recent command USS MISSISSIPPI (SSN 782).
Currently, he is serving as the Command Master Chief of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia.
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
