Child Development Centers

Professional, Safe, Loving Care

The Child Development Center (CDC) offers full time care for children six weeks to five years old. The Child Development Program has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children in Camden County since 1991 and is the first in the Navy to receive the NAEYC accreditation under the new guidelines for 2007!

All military and DoD employee family members are eligible for enrollment. The CDC has the capacity to enroll 282 children (with new renovations the total will be 248). The center maintains a waiting list for each age group. A copy of the waiting list can be faxed or e-mailed to you by calling 912-573-3888.

Our child development professionals are dedicated to the goal of offering quality care and creating a safe and happy environment for the children. We provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for ages six weeks to five years of age. Lesson plans are created based on children's individual development through observations. We provide a safe and nurturing environment while working on each child's individual development socially, physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Self-help skills, health and sanitation play a big part in our daily routine.

Our program has three state funded Pre-K classes that serve 60 children who turn four years old by September 1st of each year. Instructional Day for Pre-K is Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Before and after care is provided if necessary for a fee based on total family income.

The Navy Module Training Program is an integral part of the required training for the caregivers. Our additional four hours of mandatory in-service training program provides the latest child development techniques to our caregivers. Each caregiver is also CPR and first aid certified and maintains a current health card.

Our CDC participates in the USDA Food Program.

Demand Exceeding Capacity: This has become a primary concern, not only here but throughout the Navy. Locally, we have placed great emphasis on expanding the Child Development Homes Program in an effort to meet the escalating need for full time childcare.
