Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy
The Domestic Violence Victim Advocate is available to assist all adult victims of domestic violence who are eligible for military benefits. The victim advocate provides crucial information regarding reporting preferences for victims, safety planning, information and referral to victim resources, FAP representation, and court/appointment accompaniment. The Victim Advocate can take a restricted report except when child abuse, use of a weapon, imminent danger or choking were involved. Professional Personal Counseling
Fleet and Family Support has licensed counselors who provide short-term, individual, couples, and / or family counseling to address relationships, crisis intervention, stress management, substance abuse, depression / grief after a loss, occupational and family issues and financial difficulties. In addition to individual counseling the Center offers group counseling and support. Individuals can self-refer to the groups or be recommended to participate in the groups.
Groups offered include:
• Stress and Anger Management
• Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) (Domestic Violence offender group)
• Purple Ribbon Group (Domestic Violence victim group)
• Trauma Intervention Group (TIG)
Groups and/or Classes can be offered as needed, which might include such issues as:
• Suicide Prevention
• Parenting Skills
• Dealing with Divorce
• Marriage Enrichment
• Communication Skills
• Coping with Deployment
• Dealing with Grief
