Command Master Chief Carey W. Jones is a native of Queens, NY. He enlisted in the Navy Reserve in May 1996 and transferred to Active Duty in May 1999. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Lackland Air Force Base San Antonio, Texas, completing culinary specialist training.
His sea duty assignments include: USS Ramage (DDG 61), USS Emory S. Land (AS 49), and USS Gary (FFG-51).His shore assignments include: Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, ECRC FWD Deployed Afghanistan, Commander Naval Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia and United States Military Entrance Processing Station 4th Battalion Cleveland.
He was selected for the Command Master Chief Program in 2012, and is a graduate of the Air Force’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 135 Black) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 112). He holds an Associate in Hotel and Hospitality from Coastline Community College and Bachelors in Human Resource Management from Park University.
In November 2017, Master Chief Jones reported to NRSW Transient Personnel Unit where he currently serves as the Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Jones' awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), and numerous individual, campaign, and unit awards.
