CAPT Evan L. Morrison

Captain Captain Morrison was born and raised in Chatham, Illinois.  He started his military career in 1986 enlisting in the Air Force Air National Guard with the Springfield, Illinois 183rd Fighter Group.  He spent 9 years as an Electronics Cryptographic Communications Specialist.  Upon earning a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, he entered the Naval service. 

CAPT Morrison received his commission through Officer Candidate School at NAS Pensacola in September 1995.  Upon earning his wings in April 1998 and completing initial E-2C training in December 1999, he reported to VAW-121 in Norfolk, VA.  During this tour he deployed on USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.

CAPT Morrison then went through VFA-106 to obtain his F/A-18 Hornet qualification and joined Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in Fallon, NV from 2002-2004.  While onboard, he taught Tactical Fourth Operator Integration, Hawkeye Self-Defense Tactics, and Weaponeering.  CAPT Morrison also flew the F/A-18 Hornet in the adversarial role and was a member of the Hawkeye Tactical Analysis Team (HETAT) working on the development of the E-2D.

In 2004, CAPT Morrison returned to Virginia Beach, VA and joined the Carrier Airwing ONE staff.  During this 24-month tour, he and deployed aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.

CAPT Morrison then reported as Department Head to VAW-125 Tigertails in March 2007.  He deployed aboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.

In 2009, CAPT Morrison reported to the Joint War Fighting Center, US Joint Forces Command in Suffolk, VA where he was a member of the Joint Deployable Training Team and traveled worldwide to Combatant Commands and Joint Task Forces supporting real world operations and training exercises.

Upon completion of his joint tour, CAPT Morrison served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of VAW-112 Golden Hawks at NAS Point Mugu, CA and deployed aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

CAPT Morrison was then assigned to Commander Carrier Strike Group TWELVE staff as the Future Plans and Air Operations Officer deployed aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.  During this tour, CAPT Morrison screened for sequential command as Commanding Officer of VAW-120 (Fleet Replacement Squadron) at NS Norfolk, Virginia and served as the CO for 22 months.

CAPT Morrison served as a Secretary of Defense Executive Fellow assigned to Apple, Inc in Cupertino, CA. 

In March, 2019, CAPT Morrison became the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada.

CAPT Morrison has accumulated over 3300 hours in 6 different aircraft. Personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.
