Commander Christopher Fisher, a native of Orinda, CA, was commissioned in 2001 through the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering. He was selected for flight training and reported to Pensacola, FL. In 2003, he was designated a Naval Aviator at NAS Kingsville, TX, and thereafter trained with the “Flying Eagles” of Strike Fighter Squadron 122 at NAS Lemoore, CA in the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet.
Commander Fisher’s first fleet assignment was with the “Fighting Redcocks” of Strike Fighter Squadron 22 at NAS Lemoore, CA where he reported in November of 2004 and soon thereafter picked up the callsign “Frodo”. He deployed aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) during the ship’s first operational deployment and flew 26 combat missions in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He deployed again aboard USS Ronald Reagan on a WESTPAC deployment while the Fighting Redcocks transitioned from the single seat F/A-18E to the two seat F/A-18F.
In November 2007, Commander Fisher became an instructor pilot with Strike Fighter Squadron 122 at NAS Lemoore, CA. During his tenure the squadron transitioned the initial cadre of E/A-18G Growler instructors for Electronic Attack Squadron 129 as well as the initial cadre of the Royal Australian Air Force’s first F/A-18F instructor aircrew.
Commander Fisher received orders to the United States Naval War College in August, 2010, where he participated in the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group and Halsey Alpha Advanced Research Project. He graduated in June of 2012 with a Master of Arts in National Defense and International Strategic Studies.
In 2012, Commander Fisher returned to the fleet for his Department Head tour back with the “Fighting Redcocks” of Strike Fighter Squadron 22. He served as the Administrative Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, and the Operations Officer. Deploying aboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) in 2014-2015 Commander Fisher flew 26 combat missions in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. The “Fighting Redcocks” received the coveted Commander Naval Air Forces Pacific Fleet Battle “E” as well as the Chief of Naval Operations Safety “S” awards during this deployment.
In June 2015, after completion of the United States Navy School of Aviation Safety in Pensacola, FL, Commander Fisher reported to Commander Strike Fighter Wing Pacific Fleet at NAS Lemoore, CA. As the Safety Officer he was responsible for the Safety Management Systems of 22 Strike Fighter Squadrons including the initial introduction of the F-35 at NAS Lemoore.
In August 2018 CDR Fisher assumed the duties of Installation Executive Officer for Naval Air Station Lemoore, CA.
