Responsibilities

NBVC Port Hueneme is home to a strategic West Coast deep water seaport, a National Defense Resource offering a unique combination of all aspects of Naval Operations and mission capabilities to COMPACFLT / C3F. 

NBVC Port Operations coordinates all contract (tugs, pilots, fuel, and hazardous material disposal) and non-contract port services to visiting Navy ships, hosted tenants, and vessels within the Southwest Region.

NBVC Port Operations works directly with the commercial Port of Hueneme Oxnard Harbor District in the planning, coordinating, and scheduling of visiting MSC / SDDC ships on Wharf 3 (under our Joint Use Agreement - JUA) in support of discharging both military and commercial cargo within 25 acrds of accessible marshalling (laydown) areas.

NBVC Port OPS is overall responsible for effective port laydown, wharf loading and cargo storage areas, major railroad movements, the corrdination of all visiting ships and tenant vessel berthing areas, providing dedicated maritime guidance, and overseeing the long-term and planning for future vessel port visits.

As first responders, NBVC Port OPS is directly responsible for the preventive, containment, and recovery of all hazardous waste discharge within NBVC Port Hueneme. All Port OPS personnell conduct annual OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Course and Facility Response Training (FRT) in support of any hazardous waste spill within the Harbor.
