Senior Chief Ellis, a native of Washburn, MO, enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1998.  Following Basic Training, he attended Electronic Warfare Operator “A” school and SLQ-32 Technician “C” school at Navy Technical Training Center, Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida.

Senior Chief Ellis reported to his first sea duty assignment onboard USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) in Norfolk, Virginia completing two deployments in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and DETERMINED RESPONSE.

He then received orders to U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha, NE. While there, he served as Force Tracking NCOIC and Joint Functional Component Command Space and Global Strike J4 Senior Enlisted Leader.

After this tour, Senior Chief Ellis volunteered for flight duty and received orders to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two (VQ-2) at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA where he participated in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, ODESSEY DAWN, AND UNIFIED PROTECTOR. He was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2008.

Following this tour, he attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor School and Journeyman Instructor Training before reporting to Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Ten, also at NAS Whidbey Island, as the VQ Weapons and Tactics Leading Chief.

In 2014, he transferred to Navy Information Operations Detachment Kaneohe Bay where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. This was followed by a tour at Navy Information Operations Command, Colorado serving as the Deputy SIGINT Mission Director.

Senior Chief Ellis was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in February 2018 and reported to his current assignment at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, CA in September 2018.

He holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Columbia College.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Master Chief Course.  Senior Chief Ellis’ is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Naval Aircrew Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist, and Master Training Specialist.

Senior Chief Ellis’ decorations include five Air Medals (Strike/Flight), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
