COVID-19 Information

Updated December 15, 2020

COVID-19 cases across the region are skyrocketing, with current daily new case counts nearly 100 times those in March when the first lockdowns took place.  Local hospitals are nearly out of intensive care unit beds.  It is imperative that all personnel continue to follow COVID guidelines, including avoiding all non-essential group gatherings, and always practice social distancing and mask wearing.  For the latest local statistics visit the OC Health Care Agency's COVID data center HERE.

Base Status

Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach and detachments remain operational.  Although most MWR services have been suspended, some are open for Active Duty personnel only.  There is no date set to re-open MWR services to additional patrons.

Base Access

ALL individuals must have a valid military or military retiree ID card in order to access Navy installations.  Previous rules allowing individuals carrying military ID cards to escort invividuals without military ID cards have been temporarily suspended.  Anyone attempting base access may be asked questions about thier health and health history before being allowed onboard.  Anyone with potential COVID-19 symptoms or history will be denied base access.

Face Coverings

All individuals (military and civilian)  are required to wear cloth face coverings when they cannot maintain six feet of physical (social) distancing. Face coverings should be conservative in appearance and not offensive.  Beginning September 30, 2020 face coverings with an exhaust valve, as well as neck gaiter-style face coverings, are prohibited from Navy installations, including the Navy Golf Course.

When entering installations, individuals should be prepared to show a face covering in their possession and have one on their person at all times.  At this time, there are no restrictions to base access for those not wearing a face covering. All personnel should be prepared to lower face coverings as directed by security forces to verify identification.  Face coverings will be required when visiting the NEX store aboard NAVWPNSTA Seal Beach.
