IRP Site 6 - South Ravine Disposal Area
IR Site 6 is a disposal area in the south-central portion of DFSP San Pedro. This site was first identified as a disposal area in a 1990 Naval Energy and Environmental Support Activity Preliminary Assessment report. The disposal history of the ravine is unknown. Debris in the ravine includes concrete rubble, wood, metal, furniture, vehicle tires, and empty paint cans, visible from the surface. Much of the debris in the ravine is covered with soil and overgrown vegetation.
During the site inspection completed in 1993, buried debris were identified as the potential source of the chemicals of concern at IR Site 6. A Remedial Investigation was completed in December 2017. The Draft RI Report was released for agency comment in August 2018. The RI recommended no further action at the site based on no significant human health or ecological risks identified in the risk assessment.
