GET HELP FILING TAXES NO CHARGE!
Free tax assistance is available to all active duty service members, retirees and DOD stateside hire
and their dependents. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is administered by
Naval Legal Service Office Pacific Detachment Guam.
NLSO offices are located on the 1st floor of Barracks 1A, onboard Naval Base Guam.
From 30 January 2012 to the April deadline, the Naval Legal Service Office (NLSO),
Pacific Detachment Guam operates the Regional Tax Center at Barracks 4, second floor (training office).
Volunteer assistance will be available at all locations February through April
0830 – 1100 and 1300 – 1500, Monday through Friday.
This is an excellent opportunity to get your taxes done for FREE and may even qualify
to electronically file them with the IRS
and getting your refund in your pocket in as little as 14 days. Volunteers are also standing
by to provide free advice on how to do them RIGHT.
Tax centers are also available at HSC-25, USS FRANK CABLE, Naval Hospital, CSS-15.
If you live near one of those sites but do not belong to that command, you may still
seek assistance from that site:

Computer terminals are available at Barracks 4/main base which will enable clients to log-on to
FREE tax preparation websites sponsored by the IRS.
These sites are entirely free for individuals with adjusted gross income (AGI)
less than $54,000. Tax center volunteers will be stationed at
these sites to provide real-time assistance if issues come up during the filing process.
If you would like to file your taxes from the comfort of your home computer, log on
to the IRS website at: http://www.irs.gov/efile/.
If your AGI exceeds $54,000, you can log on to the military one source website for
free tax preparation assistance: http://www.militaryonesource.com/ .
Additionally, free internet access is available at the Library, Single Sailor Sanctuary, and C Street Café.

The NLSO in Guam is ready to assist with your legal needs, and our services are absolutely free to eligible persons!
All active duty service members, retirees, DOD Stateside hire, and their dependents are eligible for services.
Reservists and contractors may be entitled to services. Please contact our office for clarification of eligibility.
Our office provides the following services: Military Justice, Legal Assistance, Powers of Attorney/Notary
and Pre-Deployment or Preventive Law Briefs.
Powers of Attorney and Notary services are provided on a walk-in basis
Hours are Monday through Thursday 0800-1530, and Friday 0800-1200.
Affidavits, Bills of Sale and Certified True copies are also provided as needed.
Clients can receive legal assistance from attorneys in a variety of areas. These include wills, divorce/separation, adoption, immigration, consumer law and most other civil law issues. Additionally, we are happy to provide pre-deployment or preventive law briefs to commands. Command legal officers are encouraged to call the number listed above to arrange for such briefings.
Our attorneys can also provide advice to active duty servicemembers facing military justice issues. These most frequently include courts-martial, administrative separations or non-judicial punishment.
Legal assistance and military justice are also available on a walk-in basis, Mondays 0900-1200 and Fridays 0900-1200. However, clients can arrange to meet with attorneys by appointment any time during the week by calling the number listed above.
PLEASE NOTE: Attorneys and staff CANNOT give advice over the telephone. Prospective clients MUST appear for their appointments in person with identification which establishes eligibility for services.
