SANTA RITA, Guam (May 19, 2021) – U.S. Naval Base Guam has updated its mask policy to align with new Department of Defense (DoD) guidance.
Effective immediately, fully COVID vaccinated personnel and patrons are no longer required to wear a mask indoors or outdoors while on NBG installations. A person is considered fully vaccinated at least two weeks after their final dose of an FDA authorized COVID-19 vaccine. Those who are not fully vaccinated must continue to wear a mask indoors and in outdoor settings when social distancing can’t be maintained.
While not on NBG installations, local mask mandates remain in place, which requires a face covering regardless of vaccination status.
NBG is committed to the health and safety of our personnel, family members, and the local community. NBG, in conjunction with U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, will host COVID vaccination clinics at the following locations:
· NBG Chapel on Thursday, May 27 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. * Hours may be extended depending on demand for this day.
· NBG Navy Exchange Food Court and Outdoor Dining area on Saturday, May 29 from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccines will be available.
Individuals 18 years and older, who possess a valid Department of Defense (DoD) ID card are eligible to participate. This includes active duty service members, civilian DoD employees, eligible DoD contractors, TRICARE beneficiaries, VA beneficiaries, NEX employees, and Commissary employees. Appointments are not required.
NBG will continue to take prudent measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 and will vigorously assess our COVID policies to ensure we are protecting our personnel, the local community, and maintaining our readiness.
All NBG patrons are encouraged to monitor NBG social media for updates.
