ASAN, Guam (Feb. 7, 2020) – Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) Sailors will volunteer in the community during a port call this weekend.
- Nieves M. Flores Memorial Public Library – Sailors will assist library staff re-shelve books and library materials and also interact with youth and families during the literacy and arts & crafts program Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon.
- Friends of the Park – Volunteers will take part in an environmental stewardship activity helping Island Girl Power volunteers restore neighborhood parks that have been reclaimed by the jungle in Kaiser, Dededo Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Vietnam Veterans Clubhouse – Sailors will assist the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 668 Guam with maintenance, painting and memorial touch up at the Mangilao clubhouse Feb. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3p.m.
- Guam Animals in Need – Sailors will assist shelter employees and community volunteers with the shelter’s veterinary clinic, and help care for rescued animals as well as light maintenance work around the Yigo facility Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Roosevelt is the flagship of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group and departed from its homeport at Naval Air Station North Island for deployment to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Region. The Strike Group will provide maritime security, maintain freedom of the seas in accordance with international law and customs, and operate with international partners and allies to promote regional stability and prosperity.
