Military to Conduct Training in Open Ocean, Dandan, Radio Barrigada, Warning Area 517, Farallon de Medinilla

SANTA RITA, Guam (Sept. 13, 2019) – The U.S. Navy will conduct open-ocean exercises within a 10-nautical-mile radius of the coordinates 13˚26''N/145˚08''E and 13˚42''N/144˚36''E during the following dates and times:

·         From 6-10 p.m. Sept. 16

·         From 2-7 p.m. Sept. 17

·         From 6-11:55 p.m. Sept. 18

It is recommended the general public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.

Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 will conduct training from 11 a.m. to 11:55 p.m. Sept. 16-19 at the Dandan-Malojloj training site in Inarajan.

HSC-25 will also conduct training from 8-11:55 p.m. Sept. 18 at Radio Barrigada.

These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. The public should be advised that routine helicopter training often accompanied with the use of blanks can occur during these trainings.

The Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 during the following dates and times:

·         From noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 17 and Sept. 19

·         From 3-6 p.m. Sept. 20

·         From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21

W-517 is activated south of latitude 12° 40’ 00"N. W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises. W-517 is contained within the following coordinates: 13° 10"N/144° 30"E, 13°

10"N/144° 42"E, 12° 50"N/144° 45"E, 11° 00"N/144° 45"E, 11° 00"N/143° 00"E, 11° 45"N/143° 00"E, and 12° 50"N/144° 30"E.

The U.S. Air Force will conduct training from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 18-19 at the island of Farallon de Medinilla.

This training supports aircrew combat readiness and is critical to developing the skills needed to respond to operational missions throughout the region to ensure a stable, free and open Indo-Pacific.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be within a 12-nautical-mile radius of the island, located in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
