Military to Conduct Training in Agat Bay, Outer Apra Harbor, Farallon de Medinilla, Warning Area 13A, Radio Barrigada, South Finegayan, Dandan & Open Ocean

ASAN, Guam (Feb. 14, 2020) – The U.S. Navy will conduct training at Agat Bay and Outer Apra Harbor during the following dates and times:

·         Feb. 17 from 6:30-9 p.m.

·         Feb. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

·         Feb. 19 from 3:30 – 10 p.m. 

These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Mariners and residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training.

As part of the 2020 Cope North Exercise military units will conduct training within a 12-nautical mile radius of the island of Farallon de Medinilla and Warning Area 13A from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 17-18.

For the duration of the exercise the general public, fishermen, and marine tour operators are advised to remain clear of these areas and monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.

Navy personnel will also conduct training at the training sites located in Radio Barrigada; South Finegayan in Dededo and Dandan in Inarajan during the following dates and times:

·         Feb. 17 from 1-9 p.m.

·         Feb. 18 from 2:30-9 p.m.

·         Feb. 19 from 9:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.

·         Feb. 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. 

Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training.

The Navy will conduct open-ocean exercises at the following coordinates: 14˚54''N/145˚35''E on the following dates and times:

·         Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

·         Feb. 20 from noon – 4 p.m. 

For the duration of the exercise the general public, fishermen, and marine tour operators are advised to remain clear within a 5-nautical-mile radius of these areas and monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.

The U.S. Army will conduct field training exercises in Radio Barrigada from 4 a.m. to 11:55 p.m. from Feb. 21-24.

Residents in surrounding areas should be aware that blank ammunition will be used in association with this training and should not be alarmed, if they see or hear increased activity.

These trainings support readiness and is critical to developing the skills needed to respond to operational missions throughout the region to ensure a stable, free, and open Indo-Pacific.
