CMDCM(SS/AW/SW) Paul R McCrory

Command Master Chief McCrory, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1996.  Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, he completed both Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Sonar “A” school in Groton, CT.

In December of 1996, he reported to USS Olympia (SSN 717) stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI and completed two Western Pacific Deployments.  In February 2000 he transferred to Naval Submarine School and completed Sonar “C” and Advance Sonar Employment schools.  In March 2001 he reported to USS Pittsburgh (SSN 720) before split touring and reporting to USS Parche (SSN 683) where he completed two CNO Special Projects missions.  In November 2004, after decommissioning the Parche, he reported to Naval Submarine School as the Apprenticeship Technical Training Leading Petty Officer where in December of 2006, he deployed voluntarily on an Individual Augmentation to Camp Bucca, Iraq with the Naval Provisional Battalion Detachment 3.  Upon returning from his IA in January 2008, he continued his duty at Naval Submarine School in the Junior and Master Sonar Training where he advanced to Chief Petty Officer.  In October 2008 he reported to USS LOUSIVILLE (SSN 724) where he conducted a Change of Homeport from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine to Pearl Harbor, HI and completed a Western Pacific Deployment. There he served as the Sonar Leading Chief Petty Officer, 3MC, and Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer before advancing to Senior Chief Petty Officer and transferring to COMSUBPAC Tactical Readiness Evaluation and Training Team in June 2011.  Upon completing his tour at the TRE Team, he completed his Chief of the Boat (COB) assignment on USS HOUSTON (SSN 713) completing another Western Pacific Deployment and another Change of Homeport from Pearl Harbor to Bremerton, WA in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for inactivation.  In July 2017, he reported to Great Lakes, IL for Recruit Division Commander “C” school where he advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in route to the Unites States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD where he served on the Commandants Staff as the Leading Chief Petty Officer of 2nd Battalion and the 9th Company Senior Enlisted Leader, selected for Command Master Chief and transferred in March 2019.  After a short stint at USNA, he successfully completed two unusually arduous deployments during a global pandemic aboard the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWSER as the Command Master Chief for air squadron VAW-123, the world famous SCREWTOPS in Norfolk, VA until June 2021.

Master Chief McCrory now serves as the Command Master Chief of the United States Navy Ceremonial Guard in Washington, D.C.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation (3 awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), Army Rangers Combat Patch, and various unit and campaign awards.
