The goal of the Navy Fitness Program is to create "Fitness for Life" for the entire Navy, including active-duty Sailors, family members and DoD civilians. Individual and group instruction is available from certified fitness professionals in cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, flexibility and nutrition.
Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling System is an evidence-based performance tool that will address injury prevention by physically training operational job movement patterns. Rather than focusing specifically on the physical readiness test (PRT), NOFFS emphasizes how to specifically improve the functional performance of a Sailor during daily operations, including: lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, aerobic/anaerobic demands, body movement skills with balance, agility and coordination. Additionally, NOFFS provides foundational and performance nutrition guidance. The purpose of NOFFS is to meet the operational, physical and fueling demands of Sailors in order to remain ready for the missions of today's Navy.
The MWR Fitness Specialist will help you achieve your optimum level of personal fitness by performing a variety of services that range from personal assessments, to developing a personal workout plan, to being your personal trainer or a combination of the three - all designed to help you see results!
Fitness Centers and Gyms
The MWR Annapolis Fitness Center is located in the MWR Recreational Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis. Customers can avail themselves to cardiovascular workouts, free weight workouts or a variety of machines for strength training.
MWR Annapolis' South Severn Swimming Pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day to active duty, retired military, active reservists, current and retired DoD civilian employees (Civil Service and Non-appropriated), family members in all of these categories, USNA Contractors and Midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy.

MWR Youth Programs offers two sports leagues - T-Ball / Coach Pitch / Kid Pitch during late spring and early summer and Soccer during late summer and early Fall. Another clinic in Basketball is offered in mid-winter.
