Senior Chief Navy Career Counselor (SW/AW/IW) Jason Caldera is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He enlisted in the Navy in July 1998 and graduated from Recruit Training Command and Fireman Apprenticeship Course in October. Fireman Recruit Caldera reported to USS Hopper (DDG-70) in November 1998. His assignment included two deployments, operations Desert Fox and Desert Thunder, where he was promoted to Electrician’s Mate Third Class while aboard.
Follow on assignments included Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio and USS Yorktown (CG-48). In July 2002 he reported back to NRD San Antonio, where he earned the Recruiter Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) and was awarded Classifier of the Year.
Caldera left NRD San Antonio January 2006 and reported to USS New Orleans (LPD-18), a pre-commissioning unit. Caldera served as the Leading Petty Officer of the Training Department and the Assistant Command Career Counselor while aboard the ship. He left USS New Orleans October 2008 and reported to Command Career Counselor Course. He graduated in November 2008 and was converted to a Navy Career Counselor Second Class.
Caldera’s first assignment as a Navy Career Counselor was aboard USS Gary (FFG-51). His duties also included being the Executive Department Leading Petty Officer, Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (AFTP) Training Supervisor, and the Educational Services Officer. While aboard he was selected as the ship’s 2010 Sailor of the Year.
In 2014, Caldera was promoted to Navy Career Counselor Chief Petty Officer while serving aboard the USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62). He served aboard the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) as the Division Officer for three divisions when he was selected to serve on the COMSEVENTHFLT staff, and where he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in June of 2018.
Caldera’s most recent assignment was to Naval District Washington as the Regional Career Counselor.
