The Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren provides Navy personnel (including active duty and retired military, reservists, DoD employees, family members and contractors) with a varied program of wholesome and constructive off-duty leisure activities that contribute to their quality of life while stationed here.
The MWR Department offers an abundance of recreational opportunities through its many facilities: fitness centers, swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), movie theater, auto-skills center, Craftech hobby shop, bowling center, ticket/travel office, Liberty Program/center, food and beverage facilities, child care centers, youth centers and much more!
Navy Child and Youth Programs (CYP) support operational readiness, mission accomplishment and retention by assisting Sailors in balancing the competing demands of family and work life. CYP assists in the positive development of Navy children, youth and teens through a variety of programs, including child development centers (CDC), child development homes (CDH), school-age care (SAC) and instructional/leisure classes, summer camps, and youth and teen sports, fitness and recreation.
The Fleet and Family Support Center is an on-base social service agency whose goal is to improve the quality of life for the military member and family through counseling and assistance. The FFSC is the first stop for singles and families seeking counseling or assistance with a personal or family matter. FFSC's many free classes and seminars are also a great resource for self-improvement and Navy lifestyle education.
The Naval Support Facility Dahlgren's Navy Housing Office has an employee staff of “customer friendly” housing professionals available to serve military families new to the Virginia area. The NHO has information on long and short-term apartment rentals, homes for sale, schools, maps, military clauses, and information about the surrounding local communities. In addition the NHO has information regarding PPV and/or off base private sector community housing.
