CDR Tony J Militello

Executive Officer, Naval Support Activity Washington 

Commander Anthony Militello hails from Buffalo, NY. A graduate of D’Youville College (B.S. Biology) and the University of Buffalo (MBA), CDR Militello obtained his commission in 2001 via Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL.  Following his commissioning, he joined VT-10 to begin flight training which was completed when he earned his wings in 2002.

CDR Militello joined the fleet in 2003 as a member of VP-9, the Golden Eagles, completing deployments to both FIFTH and SEVENTH Fleet AORs while obtaining designations as Tactical Coordinator and Mission Commander of the P-3C Orion. Upon completion of his tour, he returned to VT-10 to serve as a T-1 instructor, Assistant Operations Officer and Assistant Training Officer. 

Shortly after executing follow-on orders to join CVN 68, USS NIMITZ, as a Tactical Action Officer, he was assigned an Individual Augmentee (IA) billet in Afghanistan. During his 15 month IA, CDR Militello served as an Embedded Training Team member tasked with mentoring the Western ANA Air Corps leadership in Herat before being reassigned midway through the tour to a gapped LNO billet in Kabul, processing Sailors into and out of theater. Upon completion of his time in Afghanistan, CDR Militello returned to the NIMITZ and received orders to Maritime Expeditionary Strike Group ONE where he served as the Assistant Training Officer and Lead Assessment Officer. While assigned to the Strike Group, he completed JPME Phase ONE and earned an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies (Irregular Warfare).

After selection for Operational Department Head, CDR Militello reported to VP-1, the Screaming Eagles, in Department Head roles of Command Services, Tactics, Safety/NATOPS, and Maintenance. In April 2015, he reported to CTF 72 (Misawa, Japan) and served three years as the staff N4 (Maintenance and Logistics officer). While at CTF 72, CDR Militello was selected to become a part of the Shore Installation Management Special Career Path with orders detailing him to DC to assume his most recent assignment as Executive Officer, Naval Support Activity Washington in April 2018.
