Housing and Lodging

The Navy Housing Program provides modern, comfortable facilities that reflect the Navy’s commitment to quality of life.  In addition, the Housing Program provides a variety of housing referral services to customers.  From transient and permanent lodging for single Sailors to multi-room housing units for families, Navy Housing professionals provide high-quality facilities and services.

The Navy Gateway Inns and Suites (NGIS), formerly known as the Visitors Quarters or VQ, offers more than 28,000 beds worldwide throughout Navy bases for the official traveler, in support of readiness and mission accomplishment.  Guests have the same quality facilities, furnishings and lodging services that they would find in a mid-level, commercial hotel.

Visiting Flag Quarters

Distinguished visitor (DV) lodging is for travelers in the grade of 07 and above only.  NGIS will book all other travelers at Navy partner hotels.

Visiting Flag Quarters (VFQ) serve as the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) guest quarters.  As such, VFQ provides temporary accommodations for Navy and Marine Corps flag and general officers, flag rank selectees and foreign equivalent counterparts to the CNO or Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) who visit the National Capital Region on official business.

The VFQ consists of: 3, 2 and 1 bedroom DV suites (one, 1-bedroom suite is ADA accessible); Benjamin Latrobe Dining Room - accommodates up to 12 guests; USS United States Reception Room- accommodates up to 30 guests.  Each suite has WIFI, DSN Line, NMCI access, printer and fax, full kitchen, washer and dryer.
